Environmental Engineer

Job FunctionThis office and field position requires advanced knowledge in the areas of science and/or engineering obtained through specialized intellectual instruction and requires the ability to work independently on assignments requiring the consistent exercise of discretion and judgement to analyze, interpret or make deductions based on varying facts or circumstances.
This position is primarily responsible for planning, selecting, coordinating and implementing scientific and engineering services to fully address the scope of work on small scale environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects in accordance with Company standards, regulatory criteria, and contractual obligations.
This position prepares the initial design concept and components of the final design of remedial systems to address potential risks to human health and the environment.

Independently identifies, analyzes, and recommends engineering alternatives/designs and is able to identify and resolve complex engineering problems and develop conclusions and innovative recommendations Assists with the preparation and peer review of conceptual and final designs for simple, single-phase/single-media remedial systems under the supervision of other engineers Consult and collaborate work with Project Manager, Superintendent, as well as Health and Safety, Quality Control, Project Controls, Estimating, and Contracts representatives to properly plan, coordinate and ensure progress of deliverables per the approved budget and schedule Select and apply appropriate environmental technologies and cost-effective solutions to remediate or remove contaminants and meet project objectives Able to plan and execute moderately complex engineering projects or programs including design, contract administration, and implementation Plan, prepare and issue project and field submittals within approved budget including but not limited to pre-construction plans, design documents, testing plans, analytical reports, shop drawings, field submittals, operation/ maintenance reports, closure reports and as-built records Apply industry standards of practice for selected technology, adhering to regulatory codes and standards, national/ local standards, and company SOPs Identify, address and communicate technical and operational risks relevant to the selected project approach and technology to the Project Manager Participates in team project meetings Take a lead role in ensuring project safety - including conducting safety Net inspections, leading safety meetings and ensuring team participant awareness Author RFQs and assist in procurement and identification and evaluation of technical and specialty subcontractors, consultants, service providers, and materials to accomplish scope of work Report to the field to perform, inspect, and/or oversee fieldwork Oversee and review work of personnel, subcontractors and consultants to ensure compliance with approved plans and acceptable tolerances Ensure that appropriate and required testing is completed by qualified personnel using properly calibrated equipment Assure compliance with contract requirements and thoroughly understand the measurement & payment of each item of work With Project Controls support, ensure prompt preparation of the work progress estimates and track pay quantity records and maintain proper documentation Evaluate, review, monitor and document results and help make necessary decisions/ adjustments to procedures Complete related documentation (field reports, logs, meeting minutes, online submittal sites) in a timely and accurate manner - including maintaining the project submittal log, all field inventory logs, and all daily reports As requested, investigate and recommend solutions in response to field changes, RFIs, and resolve issues related to the quality or applicability of installed equipment, and issues regarding system operations With Project Controls support record and track all RFIs, potential change orders (PCO), and support development of modification proposals and claims/request for equitable adjustment (REA) Experience/Education:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Management or related field from an accredited institution.
This includes a minimum of:
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.
Engineering, quality, or environmental credential (e.
g.
